Our team at Repellent Guide were intrigued to give the Black Flag Foaming Wasp & Hornet Killer a test drive. As owner of an occasional "wasp magnet" country cottage read on for my own testing experience at home.
My Wasp Battle Experience
Living in a cottage nestled amidst greeneries, I frequently encountered wasp nests on my property. A particularly large one had formed right next to my front door, making trips outside daunting. I decided to use Black Flag Foaming Wasp & Hornet Killer, and the results were genuinely impressive.
To avoid immediate conflict with the wasps, I followed the instructions and implemented the treatment at sunset. A test was carried out prior to guarantee the product wouldn’t stain my porch. Armed with my canister, I stood 20 feet away, aimed, and sprayed towards the nest, continuing the spray until the nest was visibly soaked in foam. I was able to stand far enough away to remain safe, yet the spray reached the desired location with pinpoint precision.
The following morning, I hesitantly ventured out, only to find my unwelcome neighbors had evacuated the premises. The product had worked overnight to dismantle the nest, leaving only traces of its foamy antecedent and the vacant nest behind. A vigorous hosing washed away the remaining foam residue with ease, returning my porch to its usual, peaceful state.
A ground wasp nest scenario presented in my garden gave me another chance to witness the efficiency of Black Flag Foaming Wasp & Hornet Killer. With initial skepticism about the product's effectiveness on a ground-based nest, I sprayed the foam into the nest entrance over two consecutive nights. The results didn't fail to impress. The nests were rendered vacant, further confirming the product's effectiveness.
Key Observations
While using this product, it was clear that the spray doesn't just release a linear stream. It diffuses into a fair amount of foam upon hitting the target area. This NULLIFIES attempts from the wasps or hornets to fly out or crawl around - a noticeable improvement over other brands that I have used where pests drop and crawl around on the ground.
This aerosol is, without an iota of doubt, quite potent and lethal to wasps and hornets. During my trials, I didn't spot any pests survive the foam treatment. I didn’t find any wasps on the ground or anywhere near the sprayed area. This was distinctly beneficial since I have three dogs and didn't want them to be stung by aggravated wasps.
A Word of Caution
The effectiveness of the Black Flag Foaming Wasp & Hornet Killer is undisputed, but it does come with a caveat. The spray does leave a slight residue and can potentially be messy around the sprayed area. However, as noted before, this can be easily rinsed off with a hose.
Also, remember to don suitable attire when handling this product, as tiny bits of the foam may spray into the air. I would advise wearing nitrile gloves, a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, sealable goggles, and a quality dust mask to prevent any unnecessary contact with the foam.
Final Thoughts
What impressed me the most about this product was not just the brute force it launched against the wasps, hornets, and their nests, but its ease of operation, speed, and efficiency. The rapid release could drain the bottle quickly, but you generally only need one good spray per nest.
I've dealt with numerous wasp invasions over the years and have deployed many so-called solutions, but the Black Flag Foaming Wasp & Hornet Killer stands tall among them all. It's a weapon that any homeowner would be glad to have in their battle against these notorious intruders.
