The ongoing battle against foxes in my garden led me to introduce the Orbit Yard Enforcer (TM) Motion-Activated Sprinkler to my outdoor space, and here's my experience.
To start, if you're setting this device up as a permanent fox deterrent, I'd strongly advise investing in a durable water hose. Given the nature of foxes - their nighttime activities and the hot summers we face - a hose that can endure prolonged internal water pressure is crucial. Especially in direct sunlight, the hose's temperature can rise significantly.
The robust construction of the sprinkler assured me of its durability. Adjusting its settings turned into an interesting, albeit wet, experiment. I initially placed the motion sensor low, but after observing fox behaviors and their typical routes, I found positioning it higher to be more effective. Yet, a word of caution: its sensitivity might need a few trials and errors.
The sprinkler's day and night detection modes are especially advantageous given foxes' nocturnal tendencies. They have ensured that my garden remains fox-free at crucial times. However, the sensitivity setting presented some challenges. Occasionally, the device would trigger more frequently than intended, leading to increased water consumption.
In its defense, the Orbit Yard Enforcer's motion detection is swift and accurate, promptly deterring foxes from intruding. The easy installation process and the adjustable range catered to my garden's specific needs, making it a versatile addition.
In conclusion, for anyone in a similar predicament with foxes, the Orbit Yard Enforcer is a reliable addition to your garden defense arsenal. While it's already a vital part of my garden maintenance, some refinements in sensitivity could make it unbeatable. It's an innovative solution, but keep an eye on its water usage and ensure the hose can handle the job.
Water repellers are effective against many other animals including rabbits, cats and dogs. If you have tried an ultrasonic repeller with out success then this water repeller is a certain solution. The downside being the need for the hose attachment and the risk of being sprayed yourself.
Be aware that you will need at least 2 bar pressure from your water hose to have a good range. Also water repellers are more suited to the summer months, in bad winters water freezing may become a problem.
