Being a part of the Repellent Guide team, I've had the opportunity to test a myriad of repellents and traps. The Trap-A-Pest Glue Spider Traps recently came into our radar, and after rigorous testing, here's our comprehensive review.
First Impressions:
Upon receiving the traps, their design and packaging seemed straightforward. The traps are flat-packed, promising space-saving storage, and the assembly appeared to be simple. However, the spider graphics on the trap raised some eyebrows.
Test Setup:
To thoroughly evaluate their efficiency, I:
- Placed them in the basement corners where spider activity was previously noticed.
- Positioned them behind toilets in bathrooms for added protection.
- Secured them near window cracks and door bottoms where spiders often sneak in.
Team Feedback & Personal Findings:
Drawing from our collective experiences:
- Ease of Use: The traps are user-friendly. As one team member mentioned, it's perfect for popping into room corners. However, there's a unanimous recommendation to keep them out of pets' reach due to their stickiness.
- Assembly and Storage: They come flat, making storage convenient. They are easy to put together, but as some of our members noticed, they might need some reinforcement (like tape) to stay assembled in high traffic areas.
- Efficiency: The majority of our team found the traps effective in catching spiders, beetles, and other bugs. I was personally amazed at how many spiders were trapped in the basement within a few days. However, there were instances where lighter bugs managed to crawl through.
- Design Concerns: The spider design on the trap was a contentious point. While some might find it quirky, the purpose of the trap is to catch and hide spiders from view. I, along with some of our team, would prefer a more discreet design.
- Build and Structure: Some team members expected a more robust structure, as shown in some advertisements. The fact that they can easily collapse if bumped was a downside.
- Effectiveness Over Time: One of our members almost returned the product, thinking it wasn't working, only to find it full of spiders and gnats later. This emphasizes the importance of giving the product time to show results.
Conclusion:
The Trap-A-Pest Glue Spider Traps serve their primary function — trapping spiders and other insects. They are user-friendly, space-saving, and, for the most part, effective. However, they do come with some design and structural issues that might not cater to everyone's preferences.
If you're battling a spider issue, these traps are worth a shot, but do be prepared to give them some time and possibly reinforce their structure. Also, if you prefer not to see spider graphics on your traps, you might want to look elsewhere. All in all, they do the job, but with some caveats.
